Holding a PhD in media communications, his book Soft Power was chosen as a finalist at the 60th Jabuti Awards for its investigation of cultural influences like Hollywood, tango, anime and Bossa Nova. His other works include History of World Cinema and Cultural Power. He addresses issues such as language, aesthetics, industry and power in film and entertainment.
